My name is Jason and I just look damn good in orange. Currently, I live in Boston and I do freelance graphic design. My artistic abilities and familiarity with graphics software helped lead me into making these carvings. I had read an article that helped explain the basics of how to create patterns from photos and I thought I could improve upon it and so I set out to give it a try.

The first one I made was a relatively simple self-portrait. I honestly didn't know what to expect from it. In fact, when I was halfway through I almost scrapped the whole thing cause I just didn't expect it to look right. The thing about these carvings is that, until they're lit up, they can look just plain strange. So I put a light inside to see how it might appear when finished and I was pretty surprised and thought "Whoa! This might actually work!" I finished that pumpkin some hours later and from then on I was hooked.
